1. Describe the structure of a news story and present at least two examples, each of no less than 100 words, which fit the pattern.
   OR Read closely the following news story and recompose it in four different ways as described below:
   Thieves entered a Pindi Autoparts Store and stole goods worth Rs. 12,000/- Police were informed yesterday. Rasheed Ahmed, Manager of Crescent Autos, informed the police that his store was broken into between 7 p.m. Wednesday and 8.a.m.Thursday by knocking a hole in the rear wall of the two-storey brick building. Rewrite the above story if. (a) The break-in occurred in the police departments own storeroom at headquarters;
   (b) The theft took place in broad daylight while shoppers thronged the streets;
   (c) The thieves scaled a 15-foot wall to gain entry;
   (d) The thieves left a note apologizing for the act as they needed the money to pay medical bills for their sick mother.

2. If you are appointed as PRO to a Federal Minister, how would you plan and organize your work.
   OR Define Public Relations, its purpose, scope, and ethics.

3. What are the basic ingredients of a good press release and how does it differ from a news report. Give an example to prove your point.
   OR Describe with examples the distinction between a press release and a note and between a press note and a press communiqué.

4. What legal steps have been taken since early 1985 to foster press freedom in Pakistan.
   OR Describe which interest groups exercise considerable influence on the policies of newspapers even in those countries which claim complete freedom of press.

5. Comment on the cost-benefit ratio of newspaper industry in Pakistan and why do you think new newspapers keep appearing in the country.
