2 Describe the current state and the future of the following forests according to the present trends

(a) Juniper forests of Baluchistan
(b) Riverine forests of Sindh
(c) Irrigated plantations of the Punjab
(d) Coniferous forests of Northern Pakistan

Give pragmatic measures for their perpetuation.

3 Describe the Grazing system prevalent in any part of Pakistan and its effect on the range vegetation and the livestock. Make pragmatic proposals for enhancing their sustainable productivity.

4 Define forest policy. How is forest policy formulated, implemented and monitored? How would you improve this system?

5 What are the salient features of the forest laws in force in Pakistan? What are the lacunae in the laws and the shortcomings in their enforcement? What reforms would you advocate in the current system of forest protection?

6 What factors would you consider while determining the optimum rotation for an even-aged forest and the optimum exploitable size for the species in an uneven-aged forest?

7 Write a cogent essay on bio-diversity in Pakistan, giving its significance, current state, and feasible measures for its sustainable development.
