1 What is meant by Ecological Balance in forestry? What causes the disturbance of the balance and with what consequences? Quote examples, where possible.

2 Pakistan is deficient in forest resources. What are the possible step/actions that need to be taken to improve the situation within a period? Justify through examples.

3 Mention briefly the forest types in Pakistan. Do you think the management practices in vogue for sub-tropical pine forests are providing the desired results? If not, what factors are responsible?

4 What is desertification? What are its causes? What steps need to be taken to combat it in a locality? Give examples.

5 What is forest policy? Why is it necessary for a country? Who provides it? What are the grounds on which the forest policy is based?

6 Involvement of villagers in forestry related activities is useful and ensures success. Discuss the statement. Quote examples from your experiences.

7 Salinity and water logging are major factors causing loss of fertile land in Pakistan. To what extent can forestry practices be used in the recovery and rehabilitation of this land? Are you aware of any such activity? If so quote examples.

8 Write short notes on the following: (i) Multipurpose (ii) Alley Cropping (iii) Role of predators in forests (iv) Community forestry (v) Erosion control measures in hilly areas.
