1 Pakistan has a vast area classified as grazing land. How much of this area is under management? Give instances. What is needed for managing grazing lands on a sound and scientific basis? Discuss. Where would you recommended these practices for productive results?

2 Write an essay on the Environmental Hazards” that are now recognised in the global context. In what way initiatives be taken to create required awareness in Pakistanis towards protecting environment?

3 What are the different methods used for exploitation of timber and firewood in Pakistan? Give examples. Do you consider these exploitation methods as appropriate? What changes would you suggest to improve them for better returns?

4 Describe a document:

a) Nursery practices in vogue in high hills.

b) Steps to be taken for meeting fuel wood shortage.

5 To what extent is natural regeneration practiced in Pakistan? Where is it widely adopted? Give examples. Intensive management of forests has become a need. Discuss and give examples pertaining to hills.

6 Over a period irrigated plantations have lost productivity. What are the main reasons for this? Describe and comment. What would you recommended to the forest departments for appropriate management, if asked to do so?

7 Pakistan is a wood deficit country where demand necessitates high imports. How can the imports be reduced? What strategy would you recommended to mitigate the situation? What type of wood industries need to be established for economic consumption of available raw material resources.

8 Write short note on the following:

(a) Forest policy and its need

(b) AGRO forestry practices

(c) Taungya and its implications

(d) Photosynthesis versus respiration

(e) Mangrove Forests in Pakistan.
