01 Critically examine the role of Anthropology in Modern Pakistan. How do you situate Anthropology in Social Sciences?
02 Critically examine different anthropological approaches to religion also distinguish between religion, magic and science?
03 How could you elaborate the relationship between population changes and economic, social and cultural variables like poverty, illiteracy, ill-health, family structure, forms of marriage and nature of work?
04 Describe the basic notions of Postmodern Anthropology with special focus on the concepts of interpretivist epistemology and reflexivity as rudimentary component of an understanding of Culture.
05 Analyze how the subject of incest taboo is a cultural specific category as well as a universal human phenomenon. Also debate on whether it is a natural or social phenomenon and explain the functions it performs by giving profound examples.
06 Explain the following with relevant examples.
(i) Why the study of kinship is important in Anthropology? Analyze how kinship plays a fundamental role in weaving the tapestry of culture? Substantiate your arguments with examples.
(ii) By distinguishing between levirate and sororate, elaborate their social functions with examples, specifically from Pakistani context?
07 Discuss how Eleanor Leacock amalgamate Marxist and feminist approaches to explain gender inequality; and compare this to how Sherry Ortner addresses the same issue. Whose explanation do you find more convincing and why?
08 Explain the following concepts with examples:
(i) Fossils and Fossil localities. (ii) Participant observation. (iii) Consanguineal Kin. (iv) Egalitarian Societies.
